Title sequence analysis's
The Punisher:
a) What do the titles tell
you about the story or tone of the film/TV program?
The title sequence uses
rorschach styled images to suggest to the audience that the character might be
suffering from ptsd after serving in the army. The sequence suggests that the
show is set in america as it shows a lot of guns, which also suggests that the
show and the main character are both very violent. The font used is a stencil
like font which also links back to the army themes of the show.
b) What visual effects were
used in making the sequence?
The guns used in the
sequence are all CGI, along with the smoke and the components of the guns. The
guns is animated to build itself up and spin around. There are flickers
throughout the sequence which would be done in after effects.
Game of Thrones:
a) What do the titles tell
you about the story or tone of the film/TV program?
The title sequence shows
the audience the map with all the key locations in the show which helps the
viewers understand what the show is about and where certain events take place.
It also tells the audience that the show is about these houses which are
building empires all trying to win the game of thrones.
b) What visual effects were
used in making the sequence?
The whole map and sequence
is CGI. Buildings and landscape rises up and all have small clock like features
to them. The camera flies around, zooming and panning onto the castles and
destinations.
Skyfall:
a) What do the titles tell
you about the story or tone of the film/TV program?
The sequence shows lots of
images which foreshadow parts of the film and makes the audience question what
they just saw and what it means. The sequence also shows the audience where
things take place in the film. The title is also quite dark and suggests that
the film is not going to be lighthearted.
b) What visual effects were
used in making the sequence?
There are some scenes which
are cgi and animated, mixed with scenes that are live action. The majority of
the sequence is CGI as there are scenes which would either take up too much
time or too much money to make, for example the Chinese dragons could be
possible to film in real life, however it would cost a lot of money to make.
Captain America The Winter
Soldier:
a) What do the titles tell
you about the story or tone of the film/TV program?
The sequence displays key
characters from the film and shows the film key themes from the film. A scene
in the sequence shows shield growing from the ground, and underneath hydra is
growing at the same time, this shows the audience that hydra was growing underneath
and inside of shield which happens in the film.
b) What visual effects were
used in making the sequence?
Rotoscoping and cgi is used
to turn the actors into silhouettes. This was done as it would not be possible
to film something like this scene in real life. CGI is used when the city is
raising from the ground, CGI is used as filming this small scene would not be
worth the cost of making a miniature city and raising it for one small shot.
